What it checks
The checker looks only at permits a Permitfy customer has added. It opens only pages that anyone can see without signing in. It does not log in, solve CAPTCHAs or search for permits nobody is tracking.
How often
On its normal schedule, each permit is checked at most once an hour, and less often while nothing is happening on it. If a check fails, the checker tries again after 15 minutes, then waits longer after each further failure. Requests to each county site are spaced out and limited to a small number per minute. The checker reads each site's robots.txt every day and follows it.
If you run a permit portal
Email us if you want us to check less often or stop, and we will. If your site blocks a request, or your robots.txt disallows a page the checker needs, it stops checking your site until someone at Permitfy has looked into it. It never changes its address or User-Agent to get around a block.
